M76 - The Little Dumbbell Nebula

This image was taken with modified Canon 1000XS camera and the Hyperstar 3 lens system on a Nexstar 11 GPS. The image was captured on October 8, 2012 from the bright night skies of Tempe, AZ. Messier 76 is also known as NGC 650/651.


The planetary nebula known as M76 is aproximately 2,500 light years from Earth. The nebula is also called the Barbell Nebula and the Cork Nebula.
