M17 is also known as the Horseshoe or the Omega Nebula and as NCG 6618. M17 is approximately 4,890 light years away. This shot was taken on July 14, 2009 with my Hyperstar equiped Nexstar 11 GPS. The shot was taken under the light-polluted skies of Phoenix.
