Caldwell 63 - The Helix Planetary Nebula

This is an image is of C63, the Helix Nebula. This shot was taken on 9/10/10 under the relatively dark skies of Dewey, Arizona. It was taken with my new Orion 102mm premium APO refractor. The Helix Nebula is about 700 light years away, and nebula spans an area of about 2 and a half light years across. This nebula has also been called The Eye of God.


The camera used was the modified Canon Rebel 1000xs. The Helix Nebula is also known as NGC 7293.
